Storage

Data and information storage determine the availability and speed (performance) of business applications.  Storage is one the 5 pillars (core elements) of data centre IT infrastructure (Applications, Databases, Systems, Networks and Storage). Students who complete the Storage Technologist curriculum and achieve the coveted EMC Proven Professional certification gain a competitive advantage in a marketplace that is projected to grow more than six-fold during the next five years.

The Storage Technology track, offering EMC Proven Professional Associate, Specialist and Expert level certifications, enables IT professionals to assess, plan, design, and manage complex storage solutions. The Storage Technologist track is suitable for experienced storage professionals knowledgeable in specific segments who may not have exposure to all of the other segments of modern storage infrastructure, experienced IT professionals assuming responsibility to manage storage infrastructure, students and IT professionals who  want to build their career in the storage industry, and organization-wide IT teams who are directly or indirectly responsible to plan, design, deploy, manage or  leverage information infrastructure.

This first course in EMC’s Storage Technology track introduces students to an ‘open’ storage curriculum that is focused on s and principles rather than on products.  The objective is to provide a comprehensive introduction to storage technology, enabling participants to make more informed decisions about information management and storage in context of their own company infrastructure, regardless of storage platform.

Storage Technology Foundations Course Objectives

• Describe storage concepts and architecture of Storage Subsystems, DAS, SAN, NAS, and CAS
• Explain Backup/Recovery, Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity, Local and Remote Replication
